Senior Center Participates in Give NCW with Angel Fund Program

Our Mission at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center is to "promote the general welfare of the ‘adult-over-fifty’ population of the Greater Wenatchee area through programs, services and activities which provide a safe, fun, educational and healthful environment, where all members are welcome and treated with dignity and respect." One of the crucial programs that we developed to address this mission is our Angel Fund grant program.

While we are a membership-based organization, we have purposely kept our annual dues low. At just $35 per year for individuals and $55 for couples, most seniors in our community can afford to participate. Many of our activities are free for members, while others are very low cost. In addition, we charge just $5 per person for lunch, and make that program available to everyone in the community so that any person can join us for an affordable, hot meal four days a week. 

To keep these programs low cost, we subsidize them with operating capital from our Second Chance Thrift Shop located in the back of our building, as well as donations from the community. 

However, even with these low prices, there are seniors in our community on fixed incomes that cannot afford to maintain a membership or enjoy a hot lunch. This year, we are participating in the Give NCW community campaign specifically to raise funds for our Angel Fund program.

The Angel Fund Grant Program

All area residents age 55 and over who have an annual income of less than 150% of the federal poverty level are eligible to apply. The application process is confidential. Successful applicants receive a one-time grant to pay for membership, exercises classes, lunch, purchases in our thrift shop, or any of our other paid activities. Participants may reapply for a grant if they have not utilized the program within the last three months.

How you can help

Your contribution will go 100% to our Angel Fund program and will directly support a senior in need. The more donations we receive, the more seniors we can help! The Give NCW campaign is running now and continues through December 31. We also accept donations to the Angel Fund year round.
