WENATCHEE - In remembrance of Veterans Day, each year the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center selects a local veteran to honor with a hand-made, commemorative quilt donated by their quilting group. This year they chose Bob Aldridge, a longtime member at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center. He was presented with the award during a lunchtime ceremony in the senior center's social hall on Friday, November 8.
by Russ Alman, WVSAC Communications Director On December 16, we took time to celebrate our volunteers with an appreciation party. Class with a Glass in downtown Wenatchee helped us out and hosted this year's event, and we even were able to pull some strings and get Santa to take time out of his busy schedule and deliver gifts to the group. Nancy Berry, owner of Class with a Glass, was nice enough to snap a few photos of the event for us. Those are included in the photo gallery at the bottom of this article.
As 2023 draws to a close, we want to take this opporutunity to publicly thank all of the volunteers who help out at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center. Being an indepently-funded nonprofit organization, we are heavily reliant on volunteers for many of our programs and operations. We have volunteers who help manage our front desk, teach classes, organize events, check people in for our $5 lunch program, and process donations in our Second Chance Thrift Shop. It's safe to say that our organization would not be able to run without the help of our corps of volunteers. ![]() Hey, Wenatchee Wild Hockey fans! Are you interested in being an usher at the games? We've had a number of Senior Center members volunteer as ushers during previous seasons and we're looking to continue and improve on that tradition now that the Wild have joined the WHL. The Wild are holding an Ushers Orientation Meeting on Monday, August 14th at 5:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room at the Town Toyota Center. Attend this meeting to learn more about becoming an usher at the games. For more information on this and other volunteer opportunities with the Wenatchee Wild, contact Gretchen Littler at (509) 888-7825 or email [email protected]. Volunteering for a nonprofit organization is an excellent way to give back to the community and make a positive impact on people's lives. Not only does it help the organization achieve its goals, but it also benefits the volunteer in numerous ways.
