Explore Iceland and search for the aurora borealis during your visit to this incredible and unique land. Travel the “Golden Circle,” home to amazing natural wonders. Visit Thingvellir National Park to see the Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal fields at Geysir. Visit the Skógar Museum and see traditional turf-built homes. See Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs. In the evening, search for the northern lights as you drift along on an evening cruise. End your visit to Iceland with a relaxing soak in the mineral-rich water of the Blue Lagoon.

Iceland Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Flight To Iceland
Today board your overnight flight to Iceland. Get ready to discover this small island nation featuring a landscape of interesting contrasts created by volcanoes & glaciers. The country makes great efforts to honor its Viking heritage and where lava fields and massive glaciers sculpt mountains and valleys, forming thundering waterfalls and plunging fjords. During your visit to Iceland, will have the rare opportunity to search for the aurora borealis. One of nature’s most dazzling light displays and also known as the northern lights.

Day 2: Arrive Reykjavík, Iceland
Arrive in Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital city and meet your Tour Director. Transfer to your hotel and relax as your rooms are ready for an early check-in and breakfast is included. Enjoy a panoramic Reykjavik City Tour and visit Iceland’s National Museum. The Museum’s permanent exhibition entitled The Making of a Nation, allows you to walk through Iceland’s timeline from settlement to present day. Dinner is on your own. Later tonight, enjoy an northern lights cruise and sail into Faxaflói Bay in search of the aurora borealis. Departing from Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, this excursion will take you out between the Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes Peninsulas. You’ll be in the perfect position to view the Aurora Borealis dancing amongst the stars, with nothing but the horizon in front of you and expansive skies above.

Day 3: Reykjavík - Golden Circle - Vík
Travel the Golden Circle to experience natural wonders, including the explosive Geysir thermal area and the famous two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall. Over 100 feet tall and the equivalent of a 10-story building. You’ll also experience the famous Thingvellir National Park. Later, stop at the Lava Center, an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition about volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland. Afterward, visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most stunning natural attractions and at a majestic 200-feet high. You can even walk behind it—the closest you can get to experiencing the full force of this incredible waterfall. Next, continue onto Vík for a three night stay. Explore rural Iceland from this home base in search of the northern lights to increase the likelihood of catching a glimpse of these elusive lights.

​Day 4: Vík - Dyrhólaey - Vík
Today begins with a visit to Reynisfjara, a volcanic sandy beach surrounded by basalt formations. Look out over the natural rock formations at Dyrhólaey, a small peninsula of volcanic origin towering over the ocean. Visit the Skógar Museum and discover its turf-built homes and artifacts. Later, see the impressive Skógafoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls and visit Sólheimajökull Glacier. After dinner we hope to see the northern lights.

Day 5: Vík - Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon - Vík
Travel through Skaftefell National Park, gateway to Vatnajökull Glacier known ​for having Iceland’s highest mountains and Europe’s largest ice cap. Travel to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, filled with floating icebergs. Explore this extraordinary landscape and keep an eye out for seals. After dinner this evening, continue looking and searching for the northern lights across the night sky.

Day 6: Vik - Blue Lagoon - Reykjavík
Today we return to Reykjavik. Drive along the south shore towards the Reykjanes Peninsula. Known for its rugged landscape, lava fields, and numerous hot springs. Next, experience one of Iceland’s most well known and visited attractions, the Blue Lagoon. The geothermal pool sits in the center of a large lava field. Enjoy time to relax and take a swim in the warm waters rich in minerals. Check into your hotel in Reykjavík. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening. Breakfast, Dinner. Overnight: Reykjavik
Day 7: Reykjavík - Flight Home
Transfer to the airport with wonderful memories of your Iceland Adventure.
