WENATCHEE -- The Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center is pleased to announce it has received a grant for $23,000 from the Legacy Funds Grant program managed by the Community Foundation of NCW (CFNCW). According to the CFNCW website, the organization maintains separate Legacy Funds for Cashmere, Chelan Valley, Methow Valley, Okanogan Valley, Upper Valley and the Wenatchee Valley. The funds were created by local contributors who wanted "to create a meaningful legacy to their community."
Thanks to generous donations of the Legacy Fund’s Founders Circle, CFNCW was able to distribute over $438,000 to nonprofits in Chelan and Douglas counties this year. The senior center intends to use the grant to help fund operations. While they continue to raise money separately for their building expansion and modernization project, grants such as the Legacy Grant are crucial for subsidizing everyday programs at the senior center. The senior center's $1 million operating budget is funded by a combination of profits from their thrift store, membership dues and, additional member contributions and grants such as the Legacy Grant. |
